GSHC Surrogacy School is in session! Read our in-house guide on the ins-and-outs of the journey.
Your surrogacy journey doesn’t end at delivery—and neither does GSHC’s support. In the weeks following birth, it’s important to understand how final compensation is paid, how long your escrow account remains open, and what’s needed to close out your journey financially and with peace of mind.
At GSHC Surrogacy & Egg Donation, we handle this process with care, transparency, and ongoing communication.
Your final base compensation installment
Any outstanding monthly allowances
The postpartum recovery bonus, if included in your agreement
Reimbursements for things like lost wages, travel, or childcare related to labor and postpartum recovery
The final base compensation installment
Any remaining monthly allowances
A postpartum recovery bonus (if included in your contract)
Reimbursements for lost wages, travel, or childcare related to labor and postpartum recovery
These payments are made according to the terms of your signed surrogacy contract, and GSHC’s accounting team ensures they are processed promptly through your escrow account.
In most cases, final payments are made within 1 to 3 weeks after delivery. The exact timing depends on:
Final compensation is typically processed and paid within 1 to 3 weeks after delivery, depending on the delivery date, whether all required documentation has been submitted, and the escrow company’s processing timeline. We’ll confirm each payment and keep you informed throughout.
Even after your final base pay is issued, your escrow account will remain open to cover any remaining medical bills or reimbursements. These may include:
Your escrow account might remain open for 6 to 12 months after birth. That may seem like a long time, but it’s there to protect you. Sometimes hospitals or insurance providers take weeks—or even months—to send final bills or adjustments. Keeping the account open ensures everything can be handled properly without putting you in a tough spot.
If anything shows up in your mailbox or email that looks like a medical bill after delivery, just send it to us. You can take a photo and text or email it to your case manager—whatever’s easiest. Don’t try to pay or dispute it on your own. We’ll confirm what it is and route it through escrow if needed.
Even after you receive your final compensation, your escrow account may remain open for up to 6 to 12 months. This allows time for delayed hospital billing (which can take 2–8 weeks or longer) and any insurance reprocessing or balance adjustments, as well as final payment verifications and account closure. This extended window protects you from having to deal with lingering bills or confusion down the line.
At GSHC, we stay with you through every stage, including after the baby is born. Whether you have questions about final payments, a surprise bill, or just want to check in, we’re only a message away.
If you receive any medical bills in the mail after delivery, please forward them to GSHC immediately (email or photo upload is fine). Do not attempt to pay or dispute them yourself – let us verify, process, and route them through the escrow account.
We know how busy the postpartum period can be. Our team is here to take the burden off your shoulders.
When all final bills are resolved and all reimbursements paid, your escrow account will be officially closed, and you’ll receive a final report summarizing all payments.
Even at this final stage, GSHC remains involved—to make sure everything is accurate, fair, and complete.
At GSHC, we continue supporting you even after delivery—financially, emotionally, and logistically. If you have questions about final payments, hospital bills, or account closure, our team is always just a call or message away.
